There is no agreed modus operandi for street photography. Pretty much anything goes. Actual streets are optional.
It’s easy to be conflicted about street photography. Some of the photographs here I would now place in a category I’d call ‘photographs I probably wouldn’t take now’. They seem intrusive. The process of making them too uncomfortably close to Susan Sontag’s description: ‘To photograph people is to violate them, by seeing them as they never see themselves, by having knowledge of them that they can never have; it turns people into objects that can be symbolically possessed.’ Once read, difficult to forget.
